Showcase of craftsmanship, artistic trades, and design in Paris, the artisans of the Viaduc des Arts open their workshop doors to you during the European Artistic Crafts Days 2024.

Preview exhibition at the 12th arrondissement Town Hall

Come and discover the creations of the artisans from the Viaduc des arts during the « Viaduc des Arts beyond the walls » exhibition, previewed at the Town Hall of the 12th arrondissement.

Programme for the European Artistic Crafts Days 2024 at the Viaduc des arts

Two days dedicated to passing on traditions to the younger generations:
• Meetings with artisans (demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, etc.)
• Tastings at food artisans' shops

This year, 18 artisans are opening their workshop doors to you for the European Artistic Crafts Days:

Tzuri Gueta (1 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Tzuri Gueta is currently preparing for his exhibition in Tel Aviv, Israel. On this occasion, he will present his latest creations in sculpture and set design, allowing you to enjoy this experience in Paris.

Atelier du temps passé (3 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Discover the behind-the-scenes of the restoration and conservation of artworks and graphics, and demonstrations of various techniques on several pieces by the restorers of the workshop.

Au passeur de lumière (5 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Presentation of ongoing works in creation and restoration. The different stages will be presented: models, glass selection, glass cutting, grisaille glass painting, stained glass setting, and tin soldering.

Ateliers Chutes Libres (13 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Observation of a workshop for making furniture from wood offcuts from the vault's window. The supervisors present will be delighted to answer any questions you may have.

Confiture Parisienne (17 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Presentation of the company where their products are made in the purest jam-making tradition, with a touch of modernity to create original recipes, and tasting of their homemade jams.

Wecandoo (23 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Discovery of a pottery workshop: passionate ceramic artisans will introduce you to the ceramicist profession by showing you the clay and tools used. For 1 hour, you will be able to roll out a stoneware slab with a rolling pin, cut it into star or flower shapes, and create a relief texture with various tools (stamps, letters, and modeling tools) before adding a touch of colored slip with brushes.

This initiation will mainly target children, a young audience. Your child will be accompanied during this initiation by a professional and qualified artisan.

Paris-Ateliers (35 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Attend continuous ceramic workshops and glass blowing demonstrations: alongside ceramicist Julie Brouant, both children and adults will participate in shaping a clay city by modeling specific elements: a winding alley, a sloping roof, a sculpted facade, a hurried inhabitant, or an artisan hidden in his workshop... A living creation made with many hands, the result of which will evolve throughout the day before being buried again in the earth...

Laura Puntillo Bottière (53 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Presentation of the custom-made women's bootmaking profession: discover the different trades that make up the bootmaking profession, from measuring with the sculpting of forms, to pattern making and stitching, to assembly and finishing. Each step will be described by Laura and shown to the public. Time slots are dedicated to welcoming the public to ensure a friendly and educational experience.

La Distillerie du Viaduc (55 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Visit the artisanal distillery with Théo and Quentin, gin tastings, and sharing of various distillation techniques. The artisanal production of their recipes involves a sensory approach where you have to smell, touch, taste to conceive lively drinks.

• Visit the workshop offering new, vintage, and collectible bicycles, with the possibility of learning how to change an inner tube.

Ithemba (67 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Ecology takes center stage, and the relationship between humans and nature will be explored by a duo of artists: Tom Geleb and Pierre Malma. They will exhibit their collaborative Land Art project « L'Ombre des Nuages » ephemeral murals created on the sands of Breton beaches, photographed and filmed by artist Hervé Beau.

• You will also have the opportunity to discover Colombian straw marquetry: an opportunity to learn more about « enchapado en Tamo » which is the result of the encounter between several ancestral skills, the talent of the wood sculptor on one hand, and the meticulousness of the marquetarian on the other. You will witness a sharing of knowledge in the form of an exchange.

• Discover contemporary cabinetmaking through all the stages of creating modern furniture, from design to finishing. You can learn more about the various tools and machines used, assembly techniques, surface treatment, as well as the types of wood and other materials used in our projects.

Yann Porret (103 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Demonstration of violin making: Yann, a luthier and string instrument restorer, unveils all the secrets of his ancient craft. From the meticulous carving of the vaults to the delicate installation of the purfling, through the shaping of the ribs and the precise fitting of the soundpost, each step is a work of art.

• Harp restoration workshop by their repairman, Christophe Joniot, who will set up his workshop on the ground floor of the store and will be revising a single-action Pandora harp throughout the day. An opportunity to see Harposphère's private collection and discover the history of the evolution of this instrument through its major stages.

• Follow the creation of a geometric veneer project, the very essence of cabinetmaking. Throughout this exceptional weekend, the Hervé Ebéniste workshop will live several patterns mixing beautiful wood essences to create decorative panels.

Atelier C in collaboration with ceramist Anne Berthelot (123 Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 12th)
• Throughout the weekend, they will combine their crafts by offering "ceramics & chocolate" workshops. Both kids and adults will be able to decorate a stoneware cup and make 5 dark chocolate mousse bars from Madagascar.
